When the labels
don’t fit: new ways of understanding (and helping) children with
social, emotional, sensory or learning issues
Two FREE programs
for parents -- presented by Barbara Probst
Barbara Probst, clinical social worker and Fordham University professor, has given more than a dozen talks throughout Westchester County and is currently at work on a book for parents about living with children who are eccentric, intense, extreme, inflexible, sensitive, challenging – especially when the usual labels don’t seem to fit. Instead of viewing every difference as a disease or a disorder, Barbara proposes a new model for understanding and addressing the specific traits that lie behind a child’s behavior. Workshop participants will receive an outline with practical, real-life strategies to help children – and their parents – deal with each of these issues.
